Can you believe it that companies spent billions of dollars annually on marketing food to children so they will make the children love their product?
Unfortunately, children are not aware of the fact that these foods have poor nutritional quality and can be extremely harmful to their health.
The ingredients included in these foods are Red 40 and Yellow 5, commonly used food dyes, which are made from petroleum, the ingredient used to make up gas and oil. These food dyes are related to serious health issues such as hyperactivity, ADD/ADHD, mood swings, increased risky behavior, eczema, asthma, diabetes, obesity, hypersensitivity, ear infections, headaches, bed-wetting, hives, chromosomal damage, sleep disturbances, and possibly hypoglycemia.
Actually, these substances are considered so dangerous that even the European Union and the British government have banned their usage.
Frosted Strawberry, the most popular flavor of Pop Tarts contains sugar, dextrose, corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup. All of them are considered as forms of harmful sugar. Pop Tarts also contain TBHQ which comes from petroleum and is linked to butane. This petroleum-based product can cause cellular dysfunction and cancer causing artificial colors.
At first, maybe it will be hard for you to resist to the different “fruit” flavors and characters, but when you actually realize how they are made, you will never want to consume one of them. They are made mostly of artificial colors and additives. Erythrosine, or also known as Red 3 is the food color used in these “fruit” flavored snacks.
