Mom Shares Idea For Thanksgiving Tradition, Post Goes Viral

Everyone is gathered around the table, the turkey is cooked and you’re about to start serving up plates. This is how most families begin their Thanksgiving feasts – but before Mills family begins eating, they do something extra special.

Each year, every guest at the Mills’ house signs a tablecloth with a certain color of pen that pertains to the current year! This has been going on for nearly two decades and the result is incredible.

The creator of this beautiful tradition, Deb Mills, shared their special Thanksgiving tradition with the Love What Matters Facebook page!

“We started this tablecloth in 2000. It has the names of everyone we’ve shared Thanksgiving with each year. Each year is a different color. I am so grateful to have the signatures of those who have left us…. Mom, David’s dad, our daughter Mary.

It has scribbles of [grandparents] and special messages.”

“Everyone signs it at our Thanksgiving and then I embroider it each year and it is quite a treasure to me.

Along the edge is a key of what color goes with what year. Thanksgiving is this weekend at our house so we are ready for a new set of signatures.”

This tradition is catching on around the country and it’s easy to see why! The signatures bring back memories of happiness, love and thankfulness and it’s preserved forever after Deb embroiders each name!
